I was wonderng if anybody out in the auto world might be able to help me.  I have a basic 2003 Silverado that I am attempting to install a remote power door lock kit from Icdynamics.  Everything looks to be installed properly but when the remote units are clicked the Door Lock Relay Module and the Control Module just click and click away but the actuators do absolutly nothing.

There are two main power wires, one each for the Relay Module and the Control Module. The relay module says to connect iis power line to a +12V Constant and the Control Module says to connect to a +12V main Power Input.

Does anyboy have any idea if these two wires can be connected to the same 'Red' power line from the ignition or must they be connected to separate lines?  Any why the Clicking ????

thanks in advance JJ

there are two wires in the ign. harness that you can use.....
Constant 12 volts RED (2) IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

David

thanks for the reply.  I easily found the 2 red wires - so do you suppose both of the power wires can be spliced into the same wire or do they need separate power sources?

Also - any supposition on why the actuators do not work and why the modules just 'click away ' at me ??

JJ

you have two wires as your power source, i would split the hook ups up.....

Did U install just a Keyless Entry or Door Locks & Keyless Entry??

as far as I know it was only a keyless entry . . . . . the basic truck I purchased did not have power locks.  they are what I am attempting to install.

OK... not to sound condescending or anything, but you did install power lock actuators in the doors, right?  I don't want to sound like an a**hole, but I have seen people try to put keyless entry in without power actuators in the doors.  I hope I am wrong, cause it is only common sense, but sometimes it gets forgotten.  If the relays are clicking, then the keyless entry part of it is doing its job, it must be somewhere between the relays and the doors.

Condescending - No.  I did place the actuaters in the door. By the directions it is a very simple operation. There are only a few wires to connect. The actuators only have two wires each that are color coded to hook into the same color wires coming from the Relay Module

The CLICKING may be your actuators. When U mounted them, did U allow for motion of door locks?  I usually have the Door Locks in LOCK position and the actuators mounted and also in Lock position, but give the actuator about 1/4" -3/8" push/pull clearance.  Be sure U have a GOOD Ground for your Relay & Control Module.  Sometimes U can burn Relay Module if U allow it to "Click" repeatedly.
U may want to try each actuator by it sel, to make sure they are Locking & Unlocking prior to pluging in Modules

before connecting the actuators to the control module, i always check to make sure the actuators are in good working order by testing just their function with a 12 volt drill battery. if locks/unlocks without binding then i know it's good to go.

Sorry, Didnt mean to sound like an A**, but sometimes I must ask the obvious.  Now, is the clicking coming from the relay and or control module, or is it coming from the door lock actuators?  another-kelly has a good point about testing the actuators with a drill battery, or just plain ole 12v+ and ground, to make sure that they cycle both ways before you begin to look for deeper problems in the wiring.  If they work, try straight wiring them to the relays with a short piece of wire and bypassing the wiring through the vehicle.  If still no luck, you may have to do the unthinkable, and unhook everything and start over.  It sucks, and its a major PITA, but sometimes you can overlook something simple.  It has happened to me many times, too many to be proud of in fact.  As far as the two power wires, I would follow draasch's advice and split the wires and hook to different power sources, as long as they are both good high amperage 12 volt constants.  Good Luck.

For each and every one of you who have read this post or answered, I greatly appreciate you interest and responses.

I have attempted everything.  I have rewired, pulled the modules from underneath the dash  and rewired.  I have wired the actuators to a 12 volt battery and they work just fine.  when everything is hooked up the modules just click away and the actuators are 'frozen'.  I guess the only thing left to do is attempt to call their tech service tomorrow morning and listen to them tell me the exact same things that you-all have done and that the installation problems are my fault and not the equipments.

thanks again - everyone.  - for grins and giggles - when I finally get this process completed, I will post what was wrong so that someone else can benefit from these problems.

This is just a follow-up to the previous message.  This morning I talked to the customer service reps with ICDynamics and asked them about the 'clicking' noise from both of the modules.  To make a long story short, they told me that the directions were wrong and that te 'white' and 'brown' wires that are marked 'Do Not Use' on the directdions are really supposed to be grounded.  After grounding these two wires, everything works fine.

Hope nobody else has these frustrating problems.

once I did this everything worked. good luck to each who have these same problems.
