Hi,

I am new to installing remote starters. Done 101 Honda's. Feel Comfortable doing others now.

I know that some GM and Fords need something else powered to turn on the heat/ac.

First What is that called? 2nd Ign or 2 Accessory?

Second how do you test that before so you dont find out after the install when you go to remote start it and there is no heat?

Please help out a new installer

Thanks

2ign often acts as an accy wire. that is, it drops voltage during crank.

some fords have several accy wires of the same color accy. one of them is the blower. in that case, test for the largest voltage drop when you go from blower off to on.

if you are using a program like techsoft, it will tell you if any ign or accy is necessary for remote start. then you test the wire to verify the information is correct, meaning it behaves like an accy by dropping voltage during crank, and has voltage in the accy position also.
