Hey, I'm trying to wire up my mirrors to fold in when the alarm is armed through the aux off of the 530t modules.  The problem is the output wire from the 530t is 12volts and I tested the motor wire on the mirror and that wire is less than 1 volt I believe because it only registered a reading when I put the multi meter scale on .25 dcv.  Is there a resistor or something that I could use to drop that voltage down?  When I tested the mirror motor wire on the .25 dcv scale it's right in the middle between 0 and .25.  Is there a way this can be done.  The alarm is an automate with (2) 530t and the car is an 04 Denali.  Thanks in advance.

I did check it 3 times.  When I have the meter on the 2.5,10,or 50 dcv scale it doesn't register but when I go to the .25 dcv scale I get a reading right in the middle between 0 and .25 which I figure is about .13 which is about  half.  From the scale reading I figure if i send 12volts to that motor it will burn up.  When I push the button I get a reading on the .25 scale for about 2 seconds and then drops back to 0, that is when the mirror has stopped.  That is why I figured I need a resistor or something to drop that down to get the same reading off the 12volt aux.  I'm still puzzled?

There is a ORANGE / black 18ga running up to the mirror motor.  When I hit the switch I'm testing that wire.  I took the mirror off or a loose from the door to see if that's the wire and it's the only one going to the motor that folds the mirrors.

What I believe you are measuring is the residue voltage after the device. Because it is simply impossible to operate something such as your mirror with only 0.25 volts.

I would suggest to you that you measure the voltage leading to the mirror. If the voltage is still 0.25 VDC, then there is obviously a voltage drop prior to the wiring.

That must be the case because i'm measuring right at the mirror motor.  Do you have any suggestions on how to do something like with a voltage drop?

You say it is a single wire you are testing. Try putting the red lead from your multimeter on a known +12V source, then test the mirror wire with the black lead from multimeter and see if it shows 12V when the motor is running with that setup. Its possible that your mirror is  a negative switching device and hooking the meter up with one lead on ground and the other on the mirror wire would produce results similar to what your getting ( zero voltage, or near zero). If that doesnt show anything, verify that you are actually on the motor wire itself and not some type of system bus wire which will show really low voltage as well. Not sure what kind of car this is as far as having some type of data bus wire to the mirrors but there should still be an actual 12V motor of some kind in there regardless. Let us know what you find.

Ok, I will try testing using the (-) probe on the mirror motor wire and connecting the (+) to a 12 v source.  It will be a few days before I can get back to it.  It's a 04 Denali.  Thank you for the suggestion!
