My girlfriend has a 2004 grand am with a manual transmission. To turn off the car and take out the key, the car has to be left in reverse and the parking brake on. Can the car needing to be in reverse be defeated to install a remote start? If it is possible I would most likely let an install shop install a compustar alarm/remote start.

there is a little lever under the shifter and all you have to do is disconnect that and the key will come out without being in reverse.
