Hi all,

Trying to install a remote start onto a ford escort mk3 (1995). The wires I have to connect to the key barrel are as follows :

Constant 12v

Acc

On

Str (start)

I cant seem to work out which is which on the back of the key barrel, Im hopeing someone can help! The wires on the barrel are Red (thick) , Black (thick) , yellow (thin) and BLACK/ blue (thin) . Im pretty sure the BLACK/ blue is start, but as for the rest im not sure.

 BLACK/ blue    ignition harness   
Second Starter

sorry +12V wasn't listed, you're using a DMM anyway though right?

Hi, Thank you very much for your quick reply, Very helpfull and worked just fine! Car starts, but cuts out after afew seconds. Ther is one more wire to connect. On the manual it sais either :

Wrap it 5 times around high tension coil

or Connect to the oil presure light.

Without pulling out the whole dash and spending ages with a DMM, ne chance you would tell me wher to wrap or connect this wire,

Just look at the oil pressure switch on the engine( cyl head maybe?? - can't remember where on this car) and connect to that or pop the clocks out( a bit tricky on that car if you've not done it b4) and trace the wire.

The wire will normally change state from neg to pos when testing.
