Sorry for the past two posts, they are messed up because I tried to cut and paste them.
I have installed a remote start in a 2002 Ford Mustang. I am trying to get a DEI 555f to take programing. It tells me to put one of my two keys in the ingnition and turn it to the on position, when the "Theft" light goes out turn the key to the off positon. Then remove that key and insert the second key and repeat the process. Then remove the key and within 10 seconds hold the DEI 555f sensor 1/2" in front of the keyhole and remote start the car. The car will crank and but not start, then the "Theft" light flashes. I have done this over 12 times and had no sucess. Also is this supposed to be a momentary one time reading in this car or a continuous?
If I put a key in the ignition, leaving it in the off position the car will remote start no problem.
Does any one have any ideas?
some time you need 2 key to programing and make it work . the problem you have 555f does't read your key the most easy way for you it dei 556 u
I am using two keys which came with car new. It says you have to use them both. Does anyone know if these things read the key once at startup or are they continous?
placement of the vial seems to be critical in these vehicles... top of the ign cylinder works best for me ( 6 o'clock )
otherwise try a 555P and do it data

Update,
It seems that the reason I cannot get the dei 555f programed is somehow related to the fact that when use the two keys then I am supposed to imediately remote start the car within 10 seconds. Here is where it gets weird... I pull the 2nd key out of the ignition and lay it asside, press the start button twice and the remote starter waits for over 10 seconds to come on and crank the motor which is to late... If I start the car with the key and shut it off then imediately press the remote start button the remote start works imediately and starts cranking. What in the heck would make the unit pause for over 10 seconds after using the two keys? Is it the factory security or the remote starter???
I tried to follow your example and it made no difference. I think my problem is that I was unable to find a Dark GREEN/ Purple wire that is claimed to be the factory disarm. One wiring sheet I have says it is in the 20 pin at the ECM and another claims a 26 pin. I check both and I can only find a BLACK/ violet and a teal GREEN/ black. What do you think? The car seems to be delaying the remote start for about 10 seconds before it starts up for cranking and by then it is to late (maximum 10 seconds per instructions).
