Has anyone done a remote start or even an alarm on a 2001 5 series bmw?  diretechs and techsoft say to tag the lock and unlock wires in the driver door module,  can i just tag the wires under the switch in the center console.  Also, for the remote start, it says that the primary ignition wire is green(x3).  Does that mean that there is 3 green wires?  Cause when I looked in the ignition harnesss, i only saw one green wire?  And if there is more ignition wire's, how do i wire a relay to activate the ignition wires?  Thanks

if you tag the wires under the switch at the centre console, lock will work, but it won't unlock...not even if you manually press the switch itself. as for ignition wires, just simply find all the wires that come live at the ignition harness. directechs are correct most of the time, but they're not always 100%.

So how do i get the lock and unlock to work?  Do i just check every wire in the drivers door harness?

actually you'll need to go into the driver's door panel and look for the door lock module itself. find blue/red for lock and BLACK/ white for unlock. both are positive trigger.

strangely enough when i looked at directech just now, for 2001 5-series it indicates to use yellow/red at the switch in the centre console, but for other years both newer and older it tells you to use the ones in the driver's door as i just described (and have been successful with in the past). good luck!
