Subject: Clicking sounds instead of chirps

After I replaced the battery, the siren stopped working and I can't hear any chirps.

However, the alarm seems to be still working BUT I HEAR clicking sounds instead of the usual siren.

Does anyone have an answer?

Thanks in advance!

hmmmm.. I can't find the EDIT POST button, so, I'll just add to this.

I forgot to mention the system that I have. It is an Avital Champion Mark 3

Thanks again!

1. Check the ground point to ensure it is clean, and secure, this includes the screw.

2. Take a piece of wire and connect the positive wire directly to the red wire of the siren. If it wails normally via direct power then you have confirmed a good siren.

If it does not, after a good ground point is affixed in place. Then the siren is faulty.

ummm....Teken, what you mentioned in your post applies to most alarms, but the avitals and cliffords of that generation are negative trigger sirens. that red wire at the siren should be constant +12v.

f0r5aK3n, first you need to confirm that there is indeed +12v at that red wire at the siren. then you can test to see if the siren is still good by applying a ground to the other wire (which should probably be black). good luck!

jimmeezgolfvr6, thanks for catching that mistake. posted_image

f0r5aK3n, test the unit as it is outlined above. Been drinking too much neocitrin today. posted_image

one of my problems are solved! thanks guys for the advice and instruction. The siren was indeed busted. I temporarily used the car horn and have since then got a new siren. :)

Anyway, next problem, what about the park/headlights? When arming or disarming or alarm trigger, there are no lights flashing. Would again appreciate any info.

Go with the basics first. Check all the wiring coming from the alarm CPU. Follow the wiring to the point where it interfaces to the lights.

Ensure it is secure and firmly attached. If it is, then the next step is to measure the output from the alarm system.

See if the unit is outputing the correct current rating from that output. The other obvious thing, would be to see if any relay was used and test it, or in a pinch replace it, and see if that corrects the problem.

It could very well be a simple ground that is loose, or not properly grounded.

If you engage the alarm system to arm /disarm, do you hear a click from the relay(s) internally or externaly??

If not, found out why . . .
