from all the post ive read both of these are great units but for me I have a excisting viper 550 and want to upgrade to a paging unit like compustar or viper 791vx.
what should I do?
Would it be eazyer to go with a 791xv cause I have all the wiring done from my 550esp?

Most of the wiring for the 791 is different than the 550 so I wouldnt base my desision on that but I live and die by DEI. I havent had a brain fail on me in 3 years, and I cant say that about any other brand so I am saying I would do the 791

go with viper 791 all you do just add antena wire and the brain all the wire same thing you don't have to do anything

I just put a 791xv in my girlfriends car. Good unit so far. Remote is a bit cheeze on the battery cover design. I am sure it will fall off shortly. (small potatoes though) I just ordered a compustar A2WSS-AS that will be here on Wednesday for my truck. I am replacing an autopage RS855-LCD that I am less than impressed with. I will let you know what I think about the Compustar if you would like. 6000' of range is crazy. ------------- JKJ

I'd say go with the compustar i have the a2wss-as in my car right now and it kicks major butt i love it especially in the winter and my car is aways away from my dorm room at school its cool

6000' is crazy good range. I have heard nothing but good about these units except for spendy replacement remote prices. The antenna looks to be obtrusive, althoughI have not seen one in person yet either. ------------- JKJ

yeah the remotes are off the map for replacement my friend drove over his by accident and payed out the a$$ for a new one needless to say he was a tad bit pissed off about it
