I have found the horn wire for the jeep. Only problem is that the horn will only work when the key is in the ignition, so I need to somehow wire up the horn so that it will work when the key is off. How would I go about doing this? Would it be easier to just splice into the wire at the horn itself vs. under the dash? Also does anyone know the color of the hazard wire? thanks

I have yet to see a North American vehicle which the horn does not work, without the key in the cylinder.
The horn is a safety device, which is always powered, and ready to use, such as your four way hazards.
If it does indeed operate as you discribe, then there is either a wiring fault, or someone has modified it to do so.

YIKES............it's a 1989.....My brain hurts
There R some, sorry to say, U.S. vehicles that the horn does not work without the key on. What wire did U have? I think this will give the same results at the Horn relay, as U noticed the color was Gray and it is a + positive input. Try it............

Well I tapped into the black wire that is negative from the steering column. I know this is the right wire, as the horn will not work with it off, and when I have the ignition on and use my keyless, the horn honks. W/o the ignition, then the horn doesn't. So I need to find the grey wire listed above and run a relay to supply 12V to the horn from the alarms negative horn output? Great. Any luck w/ finding out the color of the hazards??? Kellen
