Hey I bought my car about 1.5-2 months ago, and it came with an alarm, but it doesnt work. It is a DEI Hornet, pro series i think. My car is a 94 civic. I know the remote works because the little light lights up when i hit a button, but nothing is happening. I know its a very broad question but does anyone have any idea of what could be the problem. Im not great with wiring and everything, so are there any certain places i should look first before having someone else look at it??

When you Lock / Arm the alarm does your L E D Blink while your car is unattended? Or does it Blink and stay on solid? If it stays on solid, The Alarm is probably in Valet mode and U need to find the Valet switch ------------- MO

im not really understanding what ur saying. When i push the button the alarm itself doesnt do anything. Only the little light on the remote lights up. When I'm holding the button down it lights up, solid but is flickering, so its kind of blinking.

Have U tried holding down on your Remote Lock / Arm button to see if U can trigger Alarm Panic? If your L E D is not lighting, U might want to check if the unit is really all hooked up also, Unless the L E D is bad ------------- MO

The Valet button may be mounted, under the dash, in the glove box / console, by console, ash tray, fuse box area, steering column, or the L E D may even be the Valet button if it presses in. When U press your Lock / Arm Button, do you hear any clicking under or insde dash area? ------------- MO

O man, i dunno, i couldnt find the valet button anywhere, i looked all over the place, the person who had the car before must have hidden it pretty well. Are there any general areas that i should check to see if the alarm is actually connected??

ok, when you push the button the transmitter, do the doors lock????? if so, hold the same button down for 3 seconds and see if the alarms starts sounding...if it does, push the same button to turn it off.....lets start with that for now.....let us know what you find out ------------- Good Luck

im pretty positive it has an alarm, i have the pair of remotes, and under the hood theres the speaker. And no, the doors dont lock/unlock with the remote. The only thing that happens when i push either putton on the remote is the little light on the remote lights up

is it possible for the valet button to be a switch? Because there is a switch that i was told was for the fog lights that were taken out before i got the car, but is it possible the person was wrong and the on/off switch is for the alarm??
