I just installed my first alarm (Viper 791XV) and it seems that everything is working fine :D.

My question however is: When car is RS'ed does it flash the parking light for as long as RS is active or did I make any mistake with wiring ?

yes it flashes while the car is remote started you can change this in the programming to a solid light on if you like
