Hello,

During the process of installing a remote starter in a 2005 Escalade EXT, I briefly unplugged the 3-wire connector on top of the lock cylinder (just nosing around). After reconnecting the wires, I noticed that the security light is always on. I have not cut any wires, and the car starts fine, but I would like to resolve this problem before completing the RS install. (BTW - I plan on installing a GMBP module from Trilogix.)

Did I blow a fuse somewhere, or is there a procedure for resetting this light? Thanks in advance for any help,

You could try leaving the Ignition on for 10 minutes or so.

You may have to have the Dealer CLEAR Codes, shouldn't cost anything but time.
Make sure U have everything finished and put back together.

try disconnecting the battery for 10min or longer. sometimes that works. if not, try the ignition for 10+ minutes also(doors must be shut so open a window to climb in/out of).

10 minutes key on, key off and on again for a total of three times or until successful

i got this tip from car sound & performance fourum ,cycle the key on and off 7 times this should turn off the light the trouble code will remain in the bcm's history but will eventually clear.hopefully that helps post the results

Wrong. Codes on new vehicles can very rarely (One in a thousand times) be cleared by disconnecting the battery. Try it you may get lucky, but you will most likely set a hard fault code. The problem isn't fixed if the light won't go out. A scan tool will tell you what the problem is and can clear the code if the problem is no longer present. Stored codes can usually be cleared after 40 ignition cycles. Make sure that you plugged the harness in correctly. A dealer will charge you an arm and a leg to repair this even if it takes only a few minutes.

GM vehicles will generally clear codes if the battery is taken off for 10 minutes or longer so long as the problem is no longer there. My question is why did it trip. I just did a 2004 envoy today and unpluged that harness and never had a problem. In fact I never remember having a problem caused by unplugging that harness. Seems strange to me

Thanks to all who replied - I tried leaving the ignition on for 10+ minutes, but no luck. What DID work however, was disconnecting the battery. I happened to have it disconnected for over 2 hours while working on something else, so I can't say how long it really needed to be disconnected. I have no idea why it tripped; as I mentioned, all I can think of is that I disconnected the harness. If I figure anything else out, I'll post my findings here.

Another idea - Now that I think about it, I did try to start the car while the harness was disconnected - had to prove to myself that the Passlock worked! That's probably what triggered the error, not just unplugging the harness.
