Im trying to install an alarm system. I need to lock and unlock the doors. I found that this car had a single wire that locks when 12V+ is applied and unlocks with 12V+ through a 4.7K ohm resistor from the link below.
https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page2.asp#fp
However my alarm has positive outputs from the alarm with the lock and unlock. Can someone clairify how to do it? Theres a diagram but for negitive alarm outputs.
Thanks
James
If U have + (positive) Outputs from Alarm, hook Lock wire to the GREEN/ Black and the UNLock wire to 4.7k resistor, then hook that also to the GREEN/ Black
or
Use Positive Pulse thru 2 SPDT Relays
Power Lock | GREEN/ BLACK | SINGLE WIRE |
Power Unlock | GREEN/ BLACK | SINGLE WIRE * |
Single Wire Resistor Door Locks
. * Single Wire Door Lock System. GREEN/ BLACK Wire Requires A 12 VDC (+) Pulse To Lock Doors And A 12 VDC (+) Pulse Thru A 4.7K Ohm Resistor To Unlock.

Yes that would work however. The alarm supplys a constant +12VDC until the remote is pressed. Then the volts drop to 0 for a brief moment. I need to hook it up to relays but want to know how it is different then the diagram from the link which has negative triggers.
Thanks
James
does the alarm go to 0 volts or to ground.... put your meter on conitnuity and see when u unlock or lock if the meter has a beeping sound if it does then follow the diagram u found

u ever flew on the ground?
What kind of system do you have? From the sounds of things the unit has alternating polarity door lock outputs.

I have a Option group. One of those cheap ones from ebay.
Ok I set it up with relays like the one in the links..Lock works but unlock doesnt. I found that alarm grounds as if you put a ground wire to the terminals the car and unlock perfect. I think there maybe something wrong with the alarm module itself. I think both the lock and unlock wires from the alarm used to put out +12VDC. Now the lock is putting out 12v and the unlock 1.5v.
When testing those with a multimeter the lock with drop to 0v (ground) and the unlock with stay at 1.5v constant.
Think I somehow messed up the alarm unit with testing wires?
