I have a 98 explorer sport and I hooked up the remote start module of my Phoenix Digital p-175 alarm. Everything is working fine except the first time I hooked up the heater wire the fuse burnt up on the starter module. I hooked it up directly to the switch on the dash because it was easier than messing with the ACC wires under the steering wheel. Does this seem like a bad idea or did my fuse just blow because of too much current draw? The starter still works now after I replaced the fuse, a 30 amp fuse! Is there a difference in the ACC wire and the wire at the switch.

It probably was not a good idea to go directly to Heater switch.  Some vehicles use Relays, Resistance, Grounding type, etc for powering Acces.

There Are Two GRAY / YELLOW Wires Located In The Ignition Switch Harness. Only One Needs To Be Powered For Remote Start Applications, The Correct Circuit Will Power The Heat/Ac.

I can only say that I have my RS hooked up to ACC wire and it's working very nice. The only problem with this setup you will have is that there are two ACC wires under the steering wheel. Only one of them will power heat/AC. The other one if I recall correctly is for ABS.
