recently installed an alarm/remote start in a 97 bmw 325I, customer is complaining that you cannot start the car with the key, however if you remote start the car then shut it down, the car will allow you to start it ONE time with the key, then after that it will not let you start it with the key, until you cycle it again like i just said, (start with remote, shut down, start with key one time), i havent seen the vehicle yet, just wanted to get some advice ahead of time on this. im assuming it has to be something with the transponder interface (used a dei 555B), havent worked on many bmw's so any advice from somene with experience with bmw would be appreciated!!!, would i be better off using a regular key box with antenna ring, instead of the 555b that hardwires into the factory antenna ring wiring?

sounds like a wire is reversed or not connected

double check the concectios to the transponder box, bmw will let you start the car for a few seconds without looking for a transpoder  the car is not seeing the key in the ingnition, wing type of transponder boxes will not work on this car, I just did one last week same year
