okay a few days ago my alarm was working just fine... and now my alarm doesn't work at all... when i plug the communication module back into the alarm brain the LED light stays on forever when i put my car in the ACC position. oh yeah i relcated my antenna outside the communication module... could it be my communication module is fried?? my remote doesn't do anything...doesn't arm the car...NOTHING...so what is the problem?? jeff??

btw- how much would it cost to get a new communication module and new alarm brain wiring harness???

Did you wrap the communication module with tape so that the circuit board is not grounding out on anything metal ? The system is probably in valet ( according to the LED ). You have to manually get out of valet and if the communication module wasn't damaged , the remote control should start to operate the system again. BTW: Did you cut off the resistor on the communication module ? Do this for extended range posted_image

actually i think my circuit board was grounded because when i plugged the module to the brain my alarm would chirp. but now my remote doesn't work with the alarm anymore seeing that the remote tells me it can't reach anything (beep beep beep) even though the module is connected. once i took the module out of ground it didn't beep when i pluged it into the brain like it did when it was grounded.... you think my module is fried?

Is the module in valet mode by chance ? You said that the LED is constantly on and that means that it's in program mode ( doesn't do anything but beep ). Try going through the valet mode exit sequence and post your results.

i can't put my car in or out of valet mode either way.. the button on the communication module doesn't do anything anymore and the pager remote doesn't do anything either....

When you mean it doesn't do anything anymore.... does it no beep when you press the red button ( the communication odule, not the siren ).

I would say that it's a warranty piece then. Put the communication module back together and send it back to the shop that you got it from or send it to the manufacturer.

I know this is an old post. I have seen this happen on a Impulse alarm i installed (P.O.S.). I called the company and the tech told me to disconnect the 12V and Acc wires and touch them back and take them back loose to reset the whole thing. Then go into program mode and it worked fine.

This should save time instead of sending the whole thing back ya know?

Oh, my buddy has an Aladdin. HE loves it! Sounds like a winner I think. Thanks Jeff!!!!

This would work but the communication module that the Aladdin has is GROUND sensitive and if for any reason the board grounds out.... your SOL. The Impulse only uses a dipole antenna and does not contain a circuit board of any sort. You can try this and see if it works ( don't get me wrong ) I've seen weirder stuff, but becareful..... the communication module is already damaged... you don't need to be sending in the CPU.............

Hey Accrodfreak....... forgot to ask you that when you pressed the programming button, did you have the car ignition ON or OFF ? The module only responds to commands when it is ON for valet purposes.

ground sensitive huh? i umm actually took out my antenna to extend it out, resoldered everything and put the antenna between the roof and the lining.. man.... great.. that means my module is dead huh?

i even took out the LED and extended it to my dash so people can actually see the alarm light....

btw i tried the programming button both ways..ignition on and off... i think it's dead..only thing it does is that the LED lights up constantly when keys are on ACC...

you think i can still send it back with all the modifications i did to it?

thanks for your help!

You can try to return the communication module even though it has been altered. It's the discretion of the manufacturer on wether you receive any warranty on the module or not. Nothing to loose and if they do charge you for one, they'll call you to let you know this.

sorry jeff.... i have a new problem hehe..

i think my communication module decided to work now.. because when i press the red button the alarm brain beeps and beeps... i tried going through the procedure of getting out of the valet mode but it didn't do anything after the beeping.

before when i disconnect the battery to my alarm then plug it back in, it usually give one beep to ARM out of the siren.. but now when i unplug and plug it gives two beep instead one.. i can't figure out anything....

thanks for your help again!!
