I have been having problems with putting remotestarts on the GM vehicles for a few months now and have just about gave up on them.I have tried an 04'Avalanche,99 Alero,01 Express van and have had bad luck with them all.Do you guys have alot of problems with these vehicles ?I'm not new to the install side of the business either so that not my problem.I really haven't had problems with them up in till a few months ago.

Well, what problems are you having, immobilizer defeat problems? What brand of equiptment are you dealing with?

I almost never have problems with GM vehicles. I'd be curious to know what sort of problems you are refering to. On some of the newer cars there is some confusion as to which should be considered ignition wires and which are accessory. Some wires MUST be on during the start up to kick on the trans. or other modules. Make sure you have this information accurately.
I beleive on the Alero there is a white ignition wire that some people miss.
Express is pretty straight forward, not sure about the Avalanche
Most if not all can be bypassed with a 555G or 555L
DB-DLM-GM2 or DB-DLM-GM3 for doorlocks on the 'data-doorlock" ones
The newer ones with 18 Gauge wires should be wired carefully so that your heavy wires don't pull on the connections.

The only GM's I've problems with are the '95-'99 Cavaliers/Sunfires.

Well I use few different modules here lately it has been the 555L. Most of the problems I have been having is that that it doesn't learn the code.On the Express it locked the fact. security up and wouldn't let you start the truck for about 10 min.The 04'Avalanche it would start and run for about 10-15 sec. then shut down and then start back up for 10-15 sec. and shut back down. I am pretty sure that I have the right wire connected for the bypass also but now I don't really know what to think.I have been going to the passlock piece and finding the 3-wires and tracing them down to make sure I have the right wires.I hate to start push the remotestarts away from my shop but I also don't want to keep wasting my time and/or my customers time either. Are these 555L a one time use piece or can you program another car/truck to if you pull it out of another car?

I used the 555L alot, probably 200-250 units over the last couple of years. I've had 3 malfunction.
And yes you can move them from vehicle to vehicle, they autolearn everytime you drive the car.

GM's are my least problematic. I enjoy doing anything on GM platforms.... from a wiring standpoint, they are still keeping things on a relatively simple structure. As far a PITA vehicles, I would have to say Dodge is beginning to get a little complex, some of the newer Nissan, and Honda/Acura cars are interesting.
Oddly enough, even though you have to take half of the vehicle apart to do ANYTHING, I really enjoy VW's. Kinda sick, I know, but once you figure out a VW platform (MKI,II, III,IV), you've got it. A Golf basically the same as a Jetta, and a Beetle as far as the underlying systems go, they're just clad differently sheet metal-wise. GM's are still fairly stable, not a whole lot of multiplexing going on, their anti-theft systems aren't overly difficult to deal with (How many different keys are there for Ford? Something like 7???), and are generally our most trouble free as far as bypass problems down the road.

See I guess thats what I don't get.I have no problem with the Fords,Dodge,Honda and very little with Nissan,but GM's are a pain for me. It seems like I haven't been able to get a GM to start in the last 4 tries.

Ugh.... as a pack o' day, whiskey drinking, 50,000km a year drivin' member of the human race, I really feel it unnecessary to even pay income tax. The way I see it the goverment gets waaaayyy too much of my income from extra curricular activities let alone bleed me for an additional 21% every 2 weeks.....
Guess all the money for treaty payments and social support programs has to come from somewhere.
