Just wandering if anyone could tell me this. I have a factory alarm from toyota in my hands (the regular one with a shock sensor, and so on) and was wondering if anyone knew what the wire colors on it stood for. I bought it for cheap but did not have anu instructions with it.

That is way to vague. You need to be sure that it is a toyota branded alarm or if it has other brand name on it. If there is an fcc id on it somewhere post it up and it will help. Basically we need to know exactly what module you have there in your hands, a pic might help as well.

I had a toyota alarm in my first car a few years ago when the dealer sold and installed it for me in my then brand new leased car. When I returned the leased vehicle for my next car, they said that I would have to lose my alarm or pay $200 to have it removed (for which they originally charged $600) I decided to remove it myself (my first alarm job). I still have it and it has no instructions whatsoever, but if I look at the box very carefully, the moulding has all the wire colors and connections marked on it but very small font size, like 5 or less but that is all I need. Perhaps your wire colors and connections are all marked on teh moulding as well. Take a closer look or take a close-up sharp picture and post it on here for someone to be able to help. An FCC id, like auex mentions, could also give a big hint.

All the brains are the same, Toyota has a different harness for each vehicle.

I take that back, if it is Toyota unit, they switched from the RS3000 to Rs3200 in approximately 2002. There are some Toyota units that are based on Audiovox.

I second that. The older one I was talking about is an Audiovox and the newer one in my current vehicle has the RS3200 Plus. I called Toyota customer service and the girl sent me a diagram, programming instructions etc, more than I asked. If you have the same one, I can scan and send you the info I got.

thanks for all the responses. it is not a rs3200 plus system. this one came out of a 02 4 runner. it does not have a fcc number on it, but on the top it says security main control module and main module part number 00012-ku100. i hope this helps, I will try and get a pic up soon. on the back of it there is a serial number I guess and it is 010100403413615511. and I think it is a toyota brand alarm, since it has no brand name on it

Does the key look like the one below?:
My original key looked like this but I changed my alarm for a better one(OmegaMax system with Remote start and Echo 2 way pager and am considering the satellite2000 now) so I have a different remote now. However this is what the original keyless entry remote looked like:

That is probably the RS3000. Is there a microphone in with the led?

no, it is not one of those, it is just a round LED, no microphone. i do not think that it is the rs3000 or rs3200 because those have a VIP engraving in them.
