Or how someone else did. I used spade connectors to connect to relays and extra thick wire and ended up with volumes of wire and unreliable joints. There was an old alarm and killer relay so i used the same wire only to discover the old killer relay was on the wrong starter wire and did not prevent car from starting. At least i soldered my joints.

my first install i didn't read and i used a test light on ma outputs, it was an impulse r/s
The manuals for the DEI (spec avital but saw it in the clifford too) installs have the part about using a relay on the aux channels to drive trunk release on the next page, so you read it and it looks like you just hook it up and then you turn the page and it says WARNING. Yeah i blew the circuit for the aux channel but nothing a little soldering wouldn't fix and sfter installing the propper relay it has worked ever since (about 2.5 years)

SWEDISH RICE!
When working on a 1996 Stratus sedan, I was stripping back a wire at the ignition harness thinking it was the ignition wire ( there are 2 blue ones in the harness ) and while stripping it the edge of the stripper contacted the metal cross member of the steering column. Neddless to say there was a miniscule spark and I didn't think anything of it. Ends up that I burned out a part of the BCM that controls the fan selector for defrost/front fan/feet fan/etc. and also the defroster button.
This was a $ 600 spark as the dealer said that the BCM's are not repairable and must be replaced with a new BCM and reporegrammed with the vehicle's existing information from the old BCM. What a crock !
