I have a 1997 Mercedes E320 that I would like to put a remote starter in but was wondering if it could be setup to arm/disarm the factory alarm. It is the older style mechanical key.
TIA,
Steve

Thanks. Is this for a 1997 E320?
I had a Hornet 554t two way with starter and alarm installed today. One problem that we are having is the door unlocks when the car starts and cannot be locked with the remote. The only way to lock it is to use the switch in the centre of the dash. Then you can't unlock it with the factory remote or alarm remote.
Also, can a regular metal key be setup to start the car or do I need to use a factory switchblade key? The only way I can start it without using the factory switchblade key is to use the remote starter to start the car and then use a key in the ignition to keep it running. I would prefer to only carry one remote.
Also how did you mount the switchblade key in the 555u box.
Sorry for all the questions and thanks for all the help,
Steve
As far as the door locks go, what wires did you use and did you bypass the OEM security disarm wire with the unlock wire or with the designated disarm wire from the Hornet ? For the bypass module, if you can't fit the whole switch blade into the container, then try taking the entire circuit board out of the module and slip the switchblade into the loop. You will now need to wrap the circuit board with enough electrical tape to ensure that it is well protected from a possible short. Another way is to make your own bypass module and wrap 20 -22 gauge wire around the switchblade. Use this diagram to help you:
