I've noticed that the range on my Python 881 is not that good. I mounted the antenna above the rear view mirror in my '95 dodge. Any ideas or fixes?

is the antenna in tint? Also is the ground testing at an acceptible resistance. I am not fimiliar with the antenna used on those units but if it is a xhf anttena I would check with the local dealers to be sure that there are no complications with it. I know here as well as in Winnipeg the XHF antennas get sh*t range and we must give the customers an upgrade to the xhf plus antennas

Make sure your antenna is below the tint line, That antenna is the same used on the Valet 554R.
I usually mount them to the left of where the mirror mounts.

Is there any way to tell the difference between the XHF and XHF plus antennas?

Bizzarre. Mine does not say XHF or XHF plus. Its a black piece of plastic with an antenna coming out of each side and directed's logo.

this is the 2 way system right? If it's like my old viper 2 way, i had to replace the alarm brain. You could try moving the antenna to like the side of windshield and have it run along side the plastic window trim.

Don't know what you checked, but I had an issue like this as well. 'cept I would be able to rectify it by removing and reconnecting the connector to the antenna. FOund out later on, the cable inside was breaking from a bend and just had to recrimp a new connector and worked great again.

BTW, is the XHF Plus antenna compatible with old brains using the XHF Antenna and is there a big bennefit of range?
