I put a remote start in a 2005 Kia Spectra. I can't seem to bypass the transponder. It will remote start every time with the key in the ignition. But with the bypass module hooked up it wont start. It wont even start with the key by the side of the iginition. I am told that this is a transponder security system, and I bought the bypass unit at the Kia Dealer. Any suggestions on what to try next.......

Try using a dei 555u ar audiovox as-tcbm. You place this exciter ring round the cylander and put a programmed key in the box and voala the car remote starts its magic I tell ya. I use these when other transponer modules fail. If you are in a pinch you can make one yourself. I got bored today and made 3 and they worked fine

I don't think thats the problem because it should start with the key held beside the ignition, shouldn't it ????

Usually, yeah it should. It is also possible that you have to do something with the keysense wire. test the key sense when you put the key in and then simulate that with the remote start. I have seen this on europeon cars

Thats what I was thinking, but I have three wires, Black- Ground I assume, Orange and Green. I have 12volts on these two wires with the key on. I dont have anything across these wires when useing the black wire(ohm's)..

direct tech says taht the keysense isorange or arange\black
are you poering up both the blue and yellow as true acc wires i.e. not hot in the crank position? tech support sheet did not say that the keysense was nececcary. but maybe give it a shot. lucky you transponder is only in the canadian versin of that car

I have powered up the keysence wire(found it through testing) and have both blue and yellow wires powered for acc, and still it will only remote start with key in ignition.........

I finally got it working. The problem was the amount of wraps around the ignition. It had to be two wraps of bare wire on the plastic ignition cover. It would work fine with the key in because the transponder in the key had to be in the center of the ignition tumbler, it wouldn't work to one side or the other as it would in a Passlock 3 system.
