I installed a FM 2009 on a 93 300zx and i can not seem to be able to get into programming. the directions mentioned that i have to turn the ign key ON. press the valet switch 5 times with in 5 seconds. the siren will chrip every time the switch is pressed, but that does not happen. I can arm and disarm the car. the alarm works and the siren goes off when the shock sensor is triggered. I have tried several times, but with no hope. i disconnected the battery and reconnected and retried, but still no hope. the remote start tries to crank the car 3 times, but does not start it. the tachometer wire is connected and secured. the car starts up just fine with the key.

If you cannot get it into pragramming mode I assume that means you cannot learn the tach. I am not familiar with the unit you have installed so I am no help there. I could only suggest that you triple check that you connected all the correct wires, as I am sure you have already double checked them. Make sure that you hooked up the ign 1 wire to the appropriate wire on the car if not the unit will not know that the key is on and therefore will not go into programming mode. Sorry I could not be of more help to you

the ign#2 is wired this way 87 - 12 volt constant | 85 - Primary start wire | 86 - Ground out when running wire ( which is your BLUE/ORANGE on the remote starter ) | 30 - The 2nd START wire ( BLACK / YELLOW ) | 87a - NOT USED |

If your ignition wire is the problem like I stated earlier it would be the ign 1. Because on some cars you do not need the ign 2. Make sure that it is hooked up to the correct wire. Check it with your meter. Make sure that it is hot with the key in all positions except off. Then make sure that it hooked up to the correct wire from the alarm if so your problem lies else where

I am using ign#1 . ign#2 is not going to the alarm directly, it is going to the ign#2 relay. It seems like the car does not crank enough to start up. i think that can be fixed by learning the tach I have two relays on the ignition wires. the ign#2 relay and the starter kill. the starter kill works well. what about the programming function? why is it not working? could it be something with the wirring. i am sure everything is connected correctly.

If you have hooked it up correctly and all connections are good I do not see a reason that it is not working. You might have a defective unit. Try to get it swapped for another one if you can. Also... Is it the first time you used this particular prduct? If so maybe you are misreading the manual. I am not calling you stupid I have made this mistake in the past. Try letting some one else read the programming part of the manual. Maybe you are skipping a step or something. As I said I am not calling you stupid, sometimes the hardest problems are the ones we create for ourselves

I agree. i am sure that it is a small problem. i read the manual several times over and over again, but i will do it again, just to be positive. things like that happen. I have two units and i actually swapped them already and did not notice any difference. same Behavior from both units.

I tried again, but still no hope. the way to enter programming is, turn the igntion ON, press the valet switch 5 times. the siren will chrip 5 times. then press the valet switch the number of times needed to enter the system parameter. whenever i turn the ignition ON and press the valet switch the remote shows the icon "call" and the siren does not chrip.

The call function is so that someone in the car can page the driver. Lets say you get out to the gas station and your girl decides she needs some gum she can press the over ride button and page your transmitter. That function is usually one that only works with the key in the off position however it might be different on yours. I do not see why though, if the keys are in the ignition why would you need to call them. Did you check to see if the alarm was seing ignition right at the module? Maybe the wire harness has an open in it. Whenever I have a problem I get my meter out or my test light and check everything out right at the module. I wish I had a better answer for you

hhmm. If the feature is working even with the ignition on that means, there is something wrong with the way it was wired. by the way i can arm the car while it is running which does not seem right. Let me give u how i wired it and see what could be wrong. the first section of the first table is the alarm portion, the second is the remote starter Alarm Color | Alarm | Wire On Car/ Color | Locaion | | yellow | Ignition Input (+) | BLACK/ Red | Ignition Switch Harness | ign#1 direct | blue/orange | Remote start Output (-)500mA | ign#2 relay | | ign#2 relay 86 | black | Ground | the ground | the ground | Direct chassis | red | +12V Battery Input #3 | White | Ignition Switch Harness | white always 12V off/On | orange | Armed Output (-)500mA | starter kill 85 | whereever | Starter kill Relay 85 | | | | | | remote Color | Alarm | Wire On Car/ Color | Locaion | | violet | Starter output | BLACK/ White | Ignition Switch Harness | 30/87a on the starter kill | yellow | Ignition 1 Output | BLACK/ Red | Ignition Switch Harness | connected direct. | orange | Accessory Output | Blue | Ignition Switch Harness | connected direct. | brown | Ignition 2 output | BLACK / YELLOW | (cold start Wire) | ign#2 relay 30 | red | +12V battery Input #1 | White | Ignition Switch Harness | white always 12V | red | +12V battery Input#2 | White | Ignition Switch Harness | white always 12V |
