I recently installed this unit in a 2004 escape. Everything works great with the exception of one little problem, and me being picky.

I've followed the instructions and re-tested everything posted from this thread:
https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=40936&KW=2004+escape

The only wire I'm suck on is the: Key Sense: BLACK/ Pink (+) @ Fusebox in driver kick - Near Top
There are probably 3 wires this color pattern and when I meter them I'm not exactly sure if I'm looking for a (+) pulse, or constant (+). If anyone knows which color connecter this wire is on, that would greatly help!

Also, I've noticed that when I lock/unlock or anything that makes the parking lights flash, it actually illuminated the parking lights and the rear taillamps. At first I thought there was a problem, then  realized, the tail lamps are indeed park of the parking light circuit! Duh! :D  If at all possible, I'd like to have JUST a yellow parking/turn signal lights illuminate and not the red tail lights as well (like how the factory FOB works). My first thought was ok no problem, I'll just use the harard lights and tap in AFTER the flasher. Well, after searching and following wires I can't seem to find the flasher... Am I just overlooking it? or is the flashing GEM/ECU controlled?

Well, I'll give an update for anyone who might run accross an escape in the future.

I was told that a Key Sense wire would need to be hooked up to the 556U to prevent the car from seeing 2 keys when getting in a car that has been remote started. Just for S&G I decided to try remote starting the car, getting in and putting in my key to take over WITHOUT connecting the key sense wire. Worked like a charm!! Wonder if the 556U can detect another key whereas the 555U couldn't?
No idea why it works, but contrary to what I've heard, it does! posted_image

The keysense wire is in the igniton harness. I recommend hooking it up. Its possible if you were to remote start the car with a key in the ignition that both keys would be deleted and wouldn't work anymore. Your gamble.
