Subject: Python System 80 Upgrade ?
Date Posted: October 06, 2002 at 9:05 AM

I have a Python System 80 installed in my 1993 GMC 1500 pickup.  I would like to install a newer python system with remote start capabilities.  Does anyone know if the wiring harness for the brain would have to be upgraded, or if you could use the same one...also, does anyone have any suggestions on which Python alarm to go with?  Any help or information would be appreciated. Thanks!

The wiring harnesses would not be compatible with each other. The Python with the remote starter will require mot pin out connections than the Python 80. It would be an easy installation if you already have a system in the truck... just cut and solder new wires into the existing wires from the previous system. get the system that doesn't require professional installation ( BITWRITER units ) especially if you want to install it yourself. Most of the newer units require authorized dealers to install the programmed Bitwriter options into the CPU's of the systems. These Bitwriter units are sold for about $ 150.00 USD if you do endup wanting one .https://www.drdetailshop.com/998T.htm

I do have an aftermarket remote start unit that I have not installed yet.  I would not mind keeping my system 80 alarm if there is a way to integrate the remote start so that the alarm would still be armed when the vehicle is started remotely.  Any ideas?

The alarm system would have to be able to bypass the impact sensor in order for the remote starter to be functional otherwise the alarm would be activaetd everytime you remote start the vehicle.

Does the Python system have a impact disable wire on the harness ? If not then this will not work unless you unplug the impact sensor altogether.

I am not sure if it does or not...I do not have the owners manual as it was already installed in my pickup when I bought it.  So, I guess I would need to know the color of the wire or if anyone does know if the Python system 80 has this wire?
