I installed a 3.5 on my 01 gmc sierra a few months ago and it has preformed flawlessly until last night.  I went out to my vehicle disarmed as normal and went to start the vehicle and it wont turn over... The a/c comes on and everything lights up but it just wont crank.  I hit the remote start on the remote and it starts without a problem and I can then leave the key in the on position hit the brake and everything works fine... Any ideas as to why this is... I really need to get this vehicle working asap as I just dont feel comfortable relying on the transmitter to start everytime...

I removed the fuses from the 3.5 and tried again but still nothing...

thanks for your time!

That happened to me once and my butt connector for the starter on the key side came loose. Check to make sure the starter wire is still connected to the starter kill.

Well I tore apart the dash today... All connections are sound. Everything has been soldered, shrink wrapped and taped... I verified the starter connections for the purple and green wire and they are correct but I still cannot start with the key... I placed a jumper wire accross the yellow starter wire where I cut it to hook up the purple and green wires and the vehicle starts without a hitch, both with the key and with the remote start....  The starter kill still works and the alarm still sounds if you turn the key when in the armed position.

Any ideas as to what the problem may be?

Also if I decide to leave the jumper wire in place do you think it will damage anything or can I use some diodes to some how isolate it??

Any help would be appreciated!

***Correction*** The starter kill doesn't work this way but the anti-grind for the remote start still does....

I'm not sure that this a remote start problem. The newer GMs have a eletronic neturel switch. It is not on common for these to fail, I personalily know of two trucks that has happened to.

sounds like an open connection in your relay pack... either a bum relay or a bad connections at the fat white connector.... grab a meter and meter both sides of the connector during crank with the key and you'll find out which it is.......

also, obviously, make sure you are disarming the starter kill relay with the transmitter before you try to start with the key...... doh!!
