Hey guys. I'm pulling out my Clifford Ace 7500 and installing a Clifford Solaris 5. Unfortunately the Solaris doesn't provide a negative output while remote started to bypass the clutch switch. I was thinking of using the third ignition wire to do this (through a relay of course) and just wanted to confirm it wasn't a bad idea. Any other ideas would be most helpful. Thanks!

I don't see why this wouldn't work, give it a try.

You can even use the starter wire to trigger a relay that will engage the clutch. You don't have to have a designated status output wire to do this.

Ok, apparently the ignition 3 output isn't working.  When I push in the clutch, I can remote start it.  I metered the ignition 3 output, and I'm not getting any voltage from it.  The only thing I can think of is it doesn't turn on until the engine is engaged?  I didn't see a programable feature on this ignition output.

Anyway I can definitely try hooking up the starter.  However, won't that completely bypass the clutch switch in the first place?  After all then when I turn the key to start, it will trigger my clutch relay as well.  If that were true, then I could accomplish the same thing by bypassing the clutch switch and eliminating the relay all together.  If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.  Thanks!

try blue/orange or blueblack (-) triggers.

Yeah, I was trying to use the blue/orange "ignition 3" output.  I found out from a quick phone call to a friend that it was a negative trigger instead of a positive trigger I would have expected from an ignition wire.  Anyway, I couldn't get it to work right, so instead I tapped into the ignition one output.  It works just fine now.  Thanks for the help.

not a good idea, I you did what I think you did, now your clutch will be bypassed EVERYTIME your ignition is on, even with the key!  keep the 86 pin connected to ign1, but now connect pin# 85 to ign3 neg output.  that will ensure that the clutch is only bypassed when the remote start is activated ;)

Oops, should have thought it through better.  That just did the same thing I was trying not to do by not using the starter wire. posted_image  I eliminated the ignition 3 wire as I couldn't get it to work.  But that was just because I got the wrong side of the clutch switch.  I figured that out when even the ignition 1 wire didn't work.  I suppose I could re-wire the relay again and use that ignition 3 wire.  Thanks!
