Hey all,

I recently installed a mannix sm700 on my car. The remote start has a feature where you have to set it before you get out the car the previous time. I did this and it wouldn't remote start, but that's not the problem. My car wouldn't crank period even with the key in the ignition. When i turn the key to the start position i don't even here a click. I've disconnected the alarm and everything, and i metered all the ignition and start wires and they are fine. Even without the alarm connected my car won't crank. Any ideas what to do next?

P.S. i also checked all the fuses in the car and under the hood.

Did you cut the starter wire at any point in the install, like to put in a starter kill relay? Is this a manual transmission vehicle?

yes i did cut the start wire to put in a relay, but i reconnected it back when i took out the alarm. Also this is a manual.

Boy, sounds like something I just help out with last night for a member here. What happended was the starter relay burned out and wasn't giving the starter solenoid any power. Find the starter wire and meter for power first, if not power is there, then it's your relay that is pooched.

Manual as in a manual transmission ? Did you check into a clutch bypass ?

Yeah metaverse asked my next question. I asked if you had a manual transmission vehicle because you would have to bypass the clutch and either you did not bypass the clutch and so the RS didn't work, but then if you tried to start the car with the key, we all know you wouldn,t forget to put the clutch in. So that leaves us with the attempted but possibly failed clutch bypass. Either that or what Jeff said.

I actually had not bypassed the clutch yet, i was waiting to get everything working. What i did was just tape the engage button down on the clutch, so i was able to start the car without pressing the clutch in. Also i metered the starter wire at the ignition, and its getting power. Gonna try to find the wire down at the starter motor and see if there's power.

glad everything got sorted out... www.hmaservice.com is the hyundai/kia website where you get "Free as in beer" manuals for any automotive product they make.. Would be nice if other manufacturers followed suit..
