Would someone please tell me where the OEM keyless entry receiver( BCM?) is located on a 98 GMC truck I think mine has died as the remotes will not unlock/ lock the doors.

This is the last thing I need to check, all the fuses are good and the locks work from the door switches. It just died all the sudden.

Thank you

Mastiff

Not sure about common...........Anything is possible.  I would want to check your Remotes first.  Your local Alarm shop should have a frequency / signal checker to see if they are sending signal.  You might even try programming them first.

ok this might sound stupid, but make sure the batteries in your transmitter are still good, i've personally never seen one of these mods go bad.  And they are typically DEI made.
