Hi, I am experiencing a weird problem with my new CT-3300. Everything from the 6-wire and 5-wire harnesses are hooked up. The other harness is not hooked up yet. As soon as I apply power (by putting the fuse in the fuse compartment of the car), one of the fuse on the red wire going to the CT-3300 blows. I discovered that it will only happen if the parking light wire (yellow) is hooked up. I tried to diode-isolate the wires, but same problem. I ended up buying a small 12v red light and hooked it to the parking light wire on one side, and grounded the other one. Same problem! If I remove the fuse on the parking light wire, I put the engine power fuse on, no problem. As soon as I reinstall the parking light fuse, The light will go one for a fraction of a second and then the fuse on one of the red wire blows! I'm starting to think the remote starter is broken. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Benoit Mercier.

Sounds like something in the CPU that is shorting out the internal relay and causing the fuse to pop. If it's a ProStart, chances are it's a manufacturer defect and you can bring it back to Crappy Tire for a replacement CPU or your refund to get a Compustar 1WAM-S  ------------- Jeff

You may be hooked up to the incorrect parking light wire. You should be hooked to the dark brown wire at the headlight switch. It goes to 12 volts + when the parking lights are turned on.

That may be so, but I also tried to connect to a straight completely independant 12v light on one side, and the other side of the light to the ground, and that would also blow the power fuse? Thanks, Benoit.

I have changed the CPU, and I am experiencing the exact same problem. Any other ideas? Thanks, Benoit.

Which wire are you using?, you should be using the yellow wire from the r/s hooked to the brown wire at the back of the headlight switch??. If this is the way you have it hooked up, please let me know what other wires you have hooked to what, and what bypass are you using?

Yes, the parking light was wired correctly in the first place. It's just that I also tried to hook this yellow wire (parking light output) to a 12v light. I suspected the parking light wire (brown) was grounded, so that's why I had tried that and it would not work better. Then I tried to hook the power (red) wires to the other power wire of the car. The RED / white which I initially used was fused at 40Amps, so I tried to hook to the other power wire (red) which is fused at 60Amps . Same thing... except that now it does not matter if the parking light is wired or not. (I know, it should not make any difference, but did not have any other ideas to try, everything else was wired correctly) In an ultimate attemps, I did cut every wires one after the other until there was only the ground (black) and the 2 power wire (red) connected. It would still blow the power fuse (30 Amp) on the red wire. The unit can only be broken. I just came back from Canadian tires where I returned it for a refund. I will go somewhere else and have one installed. I spent just too much time on this and the weather is starting to be too cold now to work outside. Thanks for your help, Benoit.
