My buddy had a Viper 791 installed in his f-150 (not sure of the year i think 02 or 03) and recently found a little problem.
For some reason when he remote starts the truck, his fob becomes usless. It shows that it is transmitting a signal, but a second later it will flash the no signal icon. This happens even if the remote is almost touching the antenna. As soon as his puts in key in the ignition to take-over, the fob amazingly works again. I had no idea what to tell him! I tested the remote under other conditions and it performs fine.
I'm stumped!:errr:
Have any of you seen/heard of this problem before or have any suggestions on what it might be?

are there any electronic items close to the antenna that come on when the car is started? like a compass or overhead electronic center?

Well I know he's got a pretty basic model which doesn't have any of the digital compass features or anything up there. I think there is just a garage door opener thing and the dome lights. =/

More generally... could this probem be caused by incorrectly wired system?
Or is this problem more likely to be interal?
