Okee, so i thaught id do a good deed and install an autostart in my car for my girlfriend, well things did not go so well, first off it dont work, i dont know what i did but it dont work, car is a 98 dodge neon standard trans. i tried to hook up the door locks those too did not work the brand is autostart model as-1474, i did manage to get the transmitter programmed for the modual, but thats all, when i press the unlock button the lights flash two times, when i press the trunk release they flash once, its not even hooked up. when i press start nothing happens. sonething else i wnat to ask is what is thenegative door input and positive door input suppoed to be hooked to? it says to only hook up one ofr the other??? thanks guys

Wow !! I HIGHLY suggest that you stop what your doing and give in and spend the $ 100 to get it installed by a professional. The car isn't that difficult to do, but for a newbie trying to install into a manual transmission vehicle, wow ! What a learning experience.

If you are doing this with an automatic, the worse that can happen is a no start and blown fuses/computers. On a stick, I can only begin to imagine if you get it to start the wrong way.. If you value life, especially someone else's..stop what you are doing before you go head over heels and don't let pride/failure get in the way of clear thought. The questions you are asking will scare both pros and newbie alike. Nobody is trying to put you down..just trying to save something that you have control over currently..be it a life, a car..sanity etc etc.
Try to get the alarm installed first with the doorlocks and light/horn flashing leave the remote start alone..at least for now. The door inputs are door triggers which tell the autostart alarm brain the status of the doors, and trunk/hood's at any given time. You will connect this wire based on the polarity of the wire in your car. If done right things that will/can happen are:
* car alarm will go off if door is forced open
* car alarm with lock doors automatically if told to do so if it senses all doors are closed
Try to read up on basic alarm install first..arm yourself with this knowledge and ask and then attempt accordingly..

A little more info would be helpful. I am not sure what you have done so far. I assume you have the power accessory, ignition, starter, and parking light wires hooked up successfully. Door locks are high in the drivers kick near where they come in from the door. It has been a while since I grabbed those but they were literally the worst pain in the neck I ever experience installing. There is not much room in that car to do anything. After you have tested the wires to make sure you have found the right ones, you need to cut them and install relays between the ends. I don't know if AutoStart has onboard relays for door locks, so if they do then great and if not, look in the relays section (follow the relays link on the left column of this website until you get to the door locks). One thing to remember when grabbing the wires is that once you cut them, you need to know which side goes to the switch in the door and which side goes to the lock motor. This is critical since you will blow fuses if you do it wrong.
Clutch bypass is Yellow at the switch above the clutch. You can connect the starter output directly to this wire instead of at the main ignition switch.
The door input is a critical connection allowing the remote start to work. As the manual states, there is a procedure that must be followed before the remote start can work. I don't know how autostarts work, but typically you need to have the car running by the key, then pull the ebrake, put car in neutral and then either you need to press start on the transmitter which turns on the remote starter, or unit will turn on itself when it sees the ebrake pulled (sometimes it needs to be pulled twice) I am not sure why i am telling you this, it is all in the manual.
Then, you need to open the door and close it again (the unit must see the door open and close for it to work - That is why you need to hook up the door input) Then you shut off the car with the remote and NOW you are in what is commonly referred to ad "Ready Mode".
Then if you installed everything correctly the remote start should work.
When installing the door input, be sure to test that every door is covered. I show a yellow wire at the light switch as the dome sensor and it is negative. I also show that each door has its own door pin wire and they are all located at the back of the drivers side fuse panel. The dome sensor should cover all doors, but make sure that it does in all positions. Some vehicles have a dome override which can cause that wire not to sense the doors opening all the time depending on where you grab the wire.
E-Brake wire is Gray/Black at the switch or going to the cluster.
Be very careful though this is not an easy first time install and a very dangerous one unless you know what you are doing.

fromw hat you said, i have everything hooked up except the door input, so your saying i should be able to hook it up to the yellow dome wire, as for the locks, i think i will leave them be for now as time is a factor, the car dont have an alarm, just power door locks, all im mainly concerned with is the autostart, as fcor the clutch, i show yellow with red tracer, but ill double check that too, metaverse, this is not my first autostart install, but it is my first manual i understand what your saying about safty, i think anyways, but before im done it will start as it is intended and no other way, but basicaly as long as thecar is not left in gear it will be alright anyways.

the problem im having is entering ready mode, it just wont do anything at all when i press the buttons, i start engine, pull park brake and press the start button, it should flash lights three times then be good to go, but it wont??? any ideas
