Hello, I'm trying to change the settings for my Nordic Start 4000 series alarm/starter, and the manual says to hold the pin switch for 4 secs. What is this pin switch? other instructions in the manual call it a Hood Switch, or Pin Switch (Hood Switch)... Does the 99 sunfire even have a Hood Switch? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. PS - for what it's worth, i'm trying to disable the chirp, and i think if i can find this pin/hood switch, the rest of the instructions are pretty straight-forward.

The pin switchwillmost likely be located in the engine bay along side the edge where the hood presses on it and lifts it from grounding out on the frame. Loof for a small plastic pin that moves up and down with the hood open & closing.

most units i've ever installed came with a pin switch to be mounted under the hood as a safety precaution.... did your unit come with one? did you install it?

Kevin, Unfortunately it was installed when i bought the car. After looking several times, and asking some people, it looks like i don't have a hood pin switch. The alarm that i have requires that i push this in order to change the settings.... i'm thinking of just finding the wire that supposed to connected to the pin switch, and ground it out and pretend i'm pushing it, do you think that will work? any other ideas? thanks for the help. Do that for now, but you should still have a switch for safety reasons. Try yo remote start the vehicle with the hood up. If the vehicle starts, then there is no pin switch . If the car doesn't start and give you light flashes instead, there is a hood pin switch. ------------- Jeff

Sounds to me like you need to look for a switch under the dash and/or near the alarm brain. Holding the hood pin switch is just going to disconnect the ground, it shouldn't have anything to do with programming the brain (but I could be wrong).
