Hi, I am going to install a new PREDATOR 4001 remote car sarter with remote power locks in my 2003 Caravan, but I don't have the van's diagram, if someone has it I would appreciate if you could share it with me.

Also I was told that all the new dodge vehicles that have a gray key they have a chip built into it that the car will detect every time you insert the key to ignite the vehicle, is that true? The owner's manual doesn't say anything about it.  The car is a 2003 Dodge Caravan SE.

Thanks in advance 8D

Do yourself a huge favor and buy a bypasskit for the locks and the immobilizer.

Here is what I am talking about:Chrysler Bypass/Interface Combo

Thats still not a cake walk install with it but from the sound of it, it might be impossible for you without it.

I am installing a remote starter in my 2003 Dodge Caravan.  The Installation manual asks about Parking lights being possitive or negative trigger.  Now, I am new to installing this type of equipment, but I have installed stereos.  How do I know what kind of triggering I have? (I immagine I need the multimeter)

Also the instructions ask about the door locks being possitive or negative.  How do I determine it?

Thanks in advance.  I know this questions are easy for everybody that is familiar with installing this equipment!

Parking lights are positive and the wire is WHITE/ Orange in the loom of wires to the left of the e brake.

Locks are a negative single wire system that requires resistors.
without a security system: Lock is 4.7K ohm and Unlock is 1.8K ohms on the PURPLE / Green wire (pin 21)
With Security system Unlock is b/w 7.5K ohm and 10K ohm, and Lock is b/w 1.8k Ohm and 2.3K ohm on PURPLE / blue wire (pin 14) Unlock requires double pulse. These wires are located in the 3rd plug from the top at the BCM.

Just so you know there is a 2nd starter wire in that vehicle and it is negative through a 180 ohm resistor.

This not an easy vehicle for a first time starter install. So be sure to read up really good and get yourself a good wire diagram. Also you should seriously consider getting a bypass module and a doorlock interface to make the installation much easier. Trust me its worth the extra money to get them.

Thanks guys.  You have been very helpfull.  I already have the bypass module (haven't installed it yet).

Now, in the installation manual they talk about the "glow plug light"... what is that?  And also for the interior light illumination output they talk about a relay which I haven't found.  do i have to buy one?  where do i install it if so?

thanks  So far I think I am doing well.

Glowplug light is only necessary on a diesel.... and, unfortunately, we won't be getting any of the diesel powered Caravans in North America any time in the near future. Too bad really.... they go like hell, and get 42ish MPG while they're at it.

this is a very complex install for a beginner, may want to rethink having professionally installed. recommend using relays for anything having resistors (lock/unlock/2nd start wire) also recommend soldering all resistors. test lock/unlock resistors with vehicle at rest and while running, if resistance isn't close enough, while running the locks may not work. spent alot of time myself under the dash of these multiplexed nightmares, so have fun....

Hi again, I can't seem to find the wire that monitors the vehicle's RPM.  The Instruction manual says it is the one that in idle it measures 1-5 volts in AC (volts) and increases by 1-5 when RPMs increase to 3,000-4,000 RPMs.  I haven't found it.  The diagram that I have for my car (2003 caravan) says it is very accessible in the PCM PIN 11 of the 40-pin connector and the color matches, but it just doesn't measure what the install manual says.  Another diagram that I have says it is a completely different cable color that also exists in that harness, but not very accessible, and doesn't measure wnat tha manual says.

If someone could please tell me which one is I would appreciate it.

the easiest way is to go to one of the fuel injectors, and use the odd colored wire.

I second that, just strip back the tape on two injectors and they will each have two wires, on each injector one wire will be the same color, use the other color at either injector.
