After having my whole system this weekend i think its time for an alarm. I'm thinking probably a viper w/ an lcd screen. Something along those lines. Anyways i'm wondering how complicated it is to install an alarm..would it be ok to do it myself or should i just leave it to the pros? I know if i have it professionally installed it will cost loads more..lets hear your input on this though.

depend on cars. for first timer, you should stick to keyless/alarm.

Those alarms aren't hard at all...I'm not sure if you will have a problem with it or not. It really just depends on how well you pick up on things. And remember when doing an alarm its about stealth. You don't want to drop your dash and find the brain. Run the wires with the factory wires to give it a factory look.

If anyone can find a good price on a DEI w/ lcd pager on ebay..please send me the link..i can't really find one. I think id like to install it myself...although i'll have no warranty..the price is worth the risk to me..only thing that scares me about it is that I was told if you screw up your factory wiring harness installing the alarm it will be like $1000 to fix.

first off what kind of car do u have.. that would allow us to judge the difficulty for a first timer.. what electronics knowledge do u have? like if ur car requires diodes or relays can you wire them up correctly... i know u can get all the answers here but to me, an installer that knows the theory behind what he is a better installer than the installer who follows DIY guides...
