I've attempted to install a prostart remote starter in a 95 acclaim.

When I press the start button, the lights flash on and off 5 times, but nothing else.

Any idea what 5 on/off flashes of the lights means on a prostart remote starter?

Thank You

Scott

I think I have all the wires hooked up right, although, since it does not work, I am less than confident at this point.

Thanks for the offer.

I was able to program the remote, once the unit was wired up, but I get an error code (lights flash on and off 5 times) when I try to start the car with the remote.

I used the wiring chart posted on this site for 95 acclaim.

The wiring instructions from the starter are at:

Thanks

Hi, do you have the page that tells you what the codes mean?  My first guess, would be that you didn't program the tach?  Some starters you have to program in the tach for it to work.  Good luck!

Thanks.

When I looked at the tach programming section of the manual, it says that if I am in Mode II (which I must have put myself into when trying to program the remote) and I haven't programmed the tach, then the car will not attempt to start, and the light will flash 5 times.

I'll try programming this thing properly tomorrow, and hopefully everything else is fine.

Thanks 12 VOLT!

Scott
