I had a 2002 Trailblazer come in today for a Viper 160XV. I used the 555l and a 455g. The car remote start and start with the key. Only problem is that after the install the Check Enigine light and Reduced Engine power lights are both on. Alos the customer just called me saying thats the car wont go past 30 MPH and that it completely died on her on the road. I have her taking it in to the dealer to see what the codes pull. Has oneone ever ran into this problem before? Or have any idea what is wrong with the car? Thanks, Chris ------------- Cris

Your ignition wires are backwards. Ignition 1 must be powered first, then ign. 2. Doing this backwards, will cause transmission proplems and check engine lights. Try looking there first.

Pink is the first and white is the second right? thats the way I have it. Also at first I didnt hook up the 2nd Acc.(brown) I fixed that but still have the problem. the customer has taken the car so I dont have it here with me. She is going to take it to the dealer just looking as to what the problem could be. Makes no sense to me since this is about the 10th Trailblazer I have done. the only thing that changed this time is that I used a 455G. Checked that out and all is fine there.

Update. She just called me back. Said she didnt take it to the dealer but rather her dad's friends shop. According to them the reason the lights came on is because I tap into the wrong brake wire. I didnt grap it at the switch on the brake but rather another white wire I found on a module on the covers for the steering rack. It read something like Trailering Package or something like that. Now I can be wrong but I dont see how that would have anything to do with the problem. Since all that that wiring is doing is sensing for 12 volts to shut the car down. If I remember correctly I found the wire on a module on the cover panel for the steering rack. I think it was labled something like trailering package ot something like that. Has anyone ever ran into this problem before?Does it make sense to anyone? As far as what we are doing for her is refunding her the money for the unit and install. She's returning it. And covering her for the towing fee. ------------- Cris

Hey Chris, did you tested the unit before leaving the shop like remote starting it and shutting down the unit with the brake pedal ? Kind of sounds wierd to me as well seeing that most units require the brake input as part of programming and if you grabbed the wrong wire, the programming or shut down would not work at all.

Yes I tested everything all worked fine even the 455G. I even tested the wire I grabbed as brake. Worked fine. I have done this before, grabbing the brake wire at other places besides the switch. Never had this problem before. The thing i did noticed though was that when I looked in her owner manuel to see what the codes indicate I found a dealer work order. It was for lights coming on on the dash. They pulled a misfire code. I thought that maybe that would also trigger the reduced engine power light and thats why I told her to take it to the dealer. But instead she took it to her dads friend shop. ------------- Cris

which wires from the starter itself did you use for the ignitions. The only time i've seen and issue where lights come on, and there is a problem with the transmission, it has been with the ignition wires. If i'm wrong I appologize, but thats all I can think of.
