Hey all,
I did an alarm/start in my friend's 2004 4Runner a few weeks back and it seems to work flawlessly except for once in a while he cannot start with the key even.
Here's the scenario, he's sitting in the car with the key to ACC, watching a movie on his indash TV. After whatever amount of time (2 minutes or more) when he tries to turn to start the vehicle it will try to start (sometimes it will) and it dies right away. BUT if he pulls the key out of the cylinder, waits a second and then tries to start, it works fine.
I've installed a Python 881XP with a 556U bypass module.
Now, at first I thought that the keysense wire would need to be hooked up but I can't seem to find a wire that rests at ground or 12V when the key is inserted. There are a few wires that rest at GND and don't change and there are a few wires that rest at 12V and don't change (wires coming from the key cylinder itself - there are only about 6 of them or so).
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Sounds more like the 555U module is not inducing the transponder signal properly at all times. Check to make sure that the module is getting an absolute ground when powered by by the ground when running wire. If you get s bleed off current then the module will momentarily turn on and off and cause starting problems.
