I have installed a 791xv into my 03' VW GTI (WITHOUT the Remote Start & Starter Kill) and everything is working fine except for three issues realated to eliminating the RS/SK.

Can someone verify the following scenario for me?:

Without the RS/SK Relay Satelite hooked up there is no way for the alarm to know when the ignition is on and/or been cycled.

This makes the valet switch useless for disarming the system and makes it impossible for me to use the switch for programming my needed double pulse on the locks.  It also will cause the LED to blink constantly while driving when a trigger goes off and the status isn't cleared.  Quite annoying.

In order to enter programming, the manual states that the HEAVY Pink wire from the Relay Sat must be hooked up AND the Ignition cycled on, then off.  In looking at the Rel. Sat. wires and the ribbon connector, I see that the only wire sending a signal back to the alarm is the YELLOW ribbon wire.

So I hooked the ribbon cable to the brain, turned the ignition to on, and enrgized the wire to the 12v+ SWITCHED.  The unit clicked and the LED no longer blinks.

This tells me that the brain now thinks the Ignition has cycled and it cleared the LED status, exactly as I hoped.

My only real question is:  Does the YELLOW ribbon wire send a continuous 12v+ into the brain whenever the Ignition is on, or does it just pulse the wire and go neutral until the Ignition is cycled?  I can't test it "real world' cause I never actually hooked it up....

If it's constant, I can just run it to the 12v+ SWITCHED, and if it's pulsed I guess I'll just put an inline switch on it.  What do you think?

Thanks

Just connect the yellow wire on the ribbon cable to the ign wire

i didnt use the ribbon cable/harness at all.

i used the harness at the end of the satellite relay and mod the harness a lil bit to fit into the RS harness port.

Thanks.

I'm just gonna remove all the pins from one end and cut the yellow 3" from the other end...
