hey whats up guys is anyone familiar with the new dei relay pack its just a black box with everything wired up inside of it now there is only 7wires comming out of that relay pack that has to get wired up in the car 2 pink 1green 1 orange 1 purple 2 red is anyone familiar with that setup also can anyone help me out with this does the green go to the keyside and the purple go to the starter motor side thanks ------------- Kenny

2 red = 12v constant
green = key side starter wire
purple = moter side starter wire
orange = accessory
pink = ignition
pink/white = second ignition or second accessory
you cut the main starter wire and connect green to the portion that's going to the key cylinder and purple on the other side of the wire.

oh ok cause i was working on an 1999 acura 3.2 tl and i ran into this problem the alarm and r/s working fine but when i try to start the car with the key in the ignition the car dont start so i disconnected the relay pack and the car started fine now i remote start the car with the relay pack connected and the car starts fine now what i did was i disconnected all my wires for the remote start and then hook it up back and couldnt find anything worng with my connection what i did ran into was the accessory wire which is the skinny orange wire from the h1 12 pin connector i disconnected that wire and the car starts with the key also the remote start functions great and everything works fine now when i check to see if the starter kill relay was workin it was not the car can still start with the alarm arm and key in the ignition ccould this be a bad relay pack cause i cant seem to see where i went wrong can anyone help me please i didnt tell the customer but i know it bothers me alot cause i like to leave things like that i want to figure this thing out so i can fix it and then i can sleep good in the night thanks wblakes ------------- Kenny

I don't want to get too far on this, but you let the car leave without telling the customer that one of the options they paid for was disconnected because of either installer error or defective products?
These are the only things; bad relay/pack, bad brain, shorted ground when armed wire or installed the starter kill wrong.
Regardless of what was wrong it is still unexcuseable. If I did that I would be terminated on the spot. ------------- Certified Security Specialist

well its one of my friends car but i just treat him like he is one of my customer but i didnt do it unpurpose you know i know i didnt install the starter kill wrong because it was already wired up in that relay pack and all i had to do was connect the green to key side and purple to starter side and then the orange wire ground when armed i did all that correct but dont know what else is wrong i am guessin that it is the relay pack that is bad i am takin a wild guess there cause i did numerous dei alarms and never had that problem and i know my wires are good because i checked it more than twice what i will do is just switch the wires and see if any difference like put the purple to key and green to starter side so i am guessin no one out there dont have a solution for me b thanks anyways for the help i appreciate it ------------- Kenny

that skinny orange wire that you called an accessory from the 12 pin harness is actually the starter kill relay trigger and if you hooked it up to any 12 volt source you probably killed the brain of the alarm(as far as starter kill anyway). Swap the brain not the relays but disconnect that orange 18ga wire first...

so what i that orange wire get connected to then cause i didnt hook it up to any 12v source except to the acc wire in the car everything function well on the brain but just not the starter kill and i didnt hook that wire up to any 12v source i am sure of that i just put that straight to the acc and can someone please tell me what that wire will get connected too ------------- Kenny

the small orange wire doesnt get used at all on this model of unit, since it already has starter kill built in via the green and violet starter wires..... IF it was being used it would be used as a negative trigger for an external relay for starter kill... but as i mentioned you dont need that since it has this feature built in on the 791..... these harnesses are used for all platforms, some dont have certain features built in and so they allow you to hook it up optionally..... but for the 791 dont hook that wire up at all..... if you did hook it up to acc then obviously it is getting 12 volts on it, which will blow something up since it is a negative trigger wire...... ------------- Kevin Gerry

the orange wire that listed on ur first post, its for ACC. it goes to the acura's igni harness.
for the starter kill: it could be that you overlook at things.....
-have you cut the starter wire?
-did you use the green and purple wire?
-did you arm the alarm when testing for the starter kill?

so i am guessin i fryed that starter kill relay or something like that since i had it hooked up to the acc wire i didnt have it hooked up for that long but i disconnected it right after the second try but i am guessing i already messed it up so anyways thanks for your help thanks for your help guys and i really appreciate it ------------- Kenny
