I am new to the PK3 bypass technology. I have a 2000 Pontiac montana with a CrimeStopper CS2011 remote start and a GM-TB4 bypass module installed correctly (according to instructions, and past experience). However, the vehicle will NOT remote start unless the key is in the RUN position.
What I need to know is
1. does the transponder "transmit" only when the ignition is in RUN (meaning the problem is with the bypass module?), or does it also transmit from the off position (meaning I need to look to RS module/wiring).
2. Are there any "tricks" for installing RS in this vehicle that may not be included in manufacturer's documentation?
thanks
Jeff

Hey Jeff, make sure that your ground when running wire is outputting a (-) signal to the module during remote start sequence. If the car runs with the key in the ON position , then everything is right with your wiring, it's just the Passlock is not programmed or the unit is not turining itself on.

It is possible that your module is at fault. I am not familiar with that one, but some of the modules I used had to have a newer version after a certain GM production date. They changed the value of the transponder in spring 2004 and made some modules obsolete. Recheck your wiring and programming first. If it shows that it programs correctly you should be OK with the module.

you can try remote starting the car with the key in the ignition, but in the off position. if it remote starts, the vehicle is seeing the key when the remote start powers up the ignition. If it doesn't start, then your problem is in the remote start powering up the ignition. when the ignition powers up, it energizes the factory antenna ring around the lock cylinder. if the transponder is in the magnetic field of the lock cylinder antenna ring, the pk3 module sends a crank/fuel enable code to the ecm and starts the vehicle.
