I'm attempting to connect a remote starter on a 95 Ford Contour and a print out I have says to get a tach signal from WHITE/ black(2.0L) or BROWN / yellow on(2.5L) at Ignition Control Module (ICM).

My question is where is this (ICM) located and what does it look like? Am I goinig to have to tear apart this car to get to it?   Also it says the Neutral safety switch is a BLACK / YELLOW wire at switch on driver side transaxle. What in the world is that, and where is it located.

Is the car a stick shift?  Did you find your tach yet?

The car is not a stick shift. I was going to go with a tachless R/S. Is this a good idea? What I am worried about is the neutral safety switch. Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks,

sometimes going tachlees you could lose the over rev shutdown feature- shuts the car off when the rpms get to high.   the neutral safety switch is supposed to be wired to a switch in the parking brake.-- alot of people just hook it to ground. your remote start will still work that way also.
