I need some help building a voltage meter to activate my remote start when the voltage gets to low. My remote start needs a neg pulse to start. I want to add a meter to automaticly start my truck when the voltage gets to 11v. If anyone knows where to build one or buy one that would be great. Thanks

You should look at the Omega RS-4LX. It has a feature that senses the voltage of the battery. If it drops below ( I think 11 volts )it will start the car to charge the battery

Thats a great idea but why not start it when it drops to 12 volts?

These look kind of dangerous to me.. what if you park your car in your garage? It could kill you in the house with the fumes. Or in a parking garage at a mall or the like, it could get towed... I carry around a battery jump kit, small thing that hooks to the battery terminals to jump it if needed... never have since I upgraded to a red cell brand battery though.

at 11V your car probably won't start, I have mine set to 12.1V and only when I know it's gonna be below -20C.
Mine also has a temp based one that I have set for -25C.

Agreed no reason to reinvent the wheel there are already several manufactures with this feature already in the system. Both voltage and temperature based.

I would have it on a switch so that when I don't want it to start up it won't. I mostly want it for when I am powering tools from the inverter in my truck, or when I am parked and watching a movie.

Some remote starters won't attempt to start the vehicle if the key is in the Accessory position (which it would be in if you're watching a movie), so you have to keep that in mind when deciding how to design a system to do what you're trying to accomplish. -Michael

most inverters have a safety inside that will shut the inverter off when the volts drop coming from the battery........i run my inverter for a while and have never had a problem with the remote start unit needing to start the van.... ------------- Good Luck
