Hi everyone! I'm looking to get a 2 way pager type alarm installed. I'm wondering how much I should pay for the install? And if anyone has any tips what manufacturer/model to get?

The model I have in mind is an AsianWolf 8500RS Deluxe:

Thanks everyone :).

It depends on what options you want to install. I called one of the shops close to my town and asked how much would they charge me for a 1way remote starter. They asked for $479 for two basic options: keyless entry (lock/unlock the door) and remote start the car. I respect their work (i know how hard it is to install alarm/remote starter), but i chose to install on my own (i know my car more than they do). I got CompuStar 2WSSR for $239 off from ebay (it's over a mile range, good quality, and has many options --- except BAD tech support) and I installed all options the system has: alarm, first pulse unlock the driver's door, second pulse unlock the rest, door/hood sensing, trunk open, even use one of its aux buttons for defrosting. For suggestion on choosing a remote car starter, click on my previous post below:

Wow, that's quite a bit, but for the entire alarm system installed it's a good price. I wouldn't pay that iwthout the system though.

I like the unit I linked to, except the range is only around 2500FT. They had a mile range one, but oyu had to extend an antennae on the remote for it to work. Does yours really go a mile (have you tested it)? I'd take that over anytihng else any day. Does anyone know if any other companiesmake ones that transmit that far (and sell on the internet - these are from authorized resellers only)?

I noticed they talked about it:

"...the FCC has allowed Firstech, Inc. to use 28X more power than any of the transmitters currently marketed in the US and in most case 56X the power... The result is that our range is extended up to 1.25 miles."

Thanks for the advice :).

Does anyone know where I can find installers fo these things? Do best buy, circuit city, hhgregg, etc do them?

The database here looked promising but I haven't heard back from anyone near me on the list.
