I installed a remote start in my 04 Dodge Ram the other day. Now my check engine light wont turn off, and I have scanned it with an OBDii scanner and there are no codes: I have questions for you guys.
#1, are these trucks OBDii compliant, or are they OBDiii?
#2, Even though there are no codes, I cannot clear the MIL even with the scanner tool. Are there any other ways to clear the light?
#3, I have not hooked up the 2nd accessory wire (blue), could this be the cause?
The remote starter woprks great. I did notice this morning that when I climb into the running truck and turn the key to the run prosition, THEN the abs light turns on, does the self check, then turns off. Could this be the second acc. wire?

you may want to hook up that acc wire, and also I had the same problem on a customers car.  make sure that you have about 30 mins for this.  disconnect the ngative batt terminal and leave it off for 20 mins while with the batt cable off you turn the ign off and take out the ECM fuse from under the hood.  when done replace the fuse, turn off ign, and replace batt cable, should take care of the light.

the blue acc wire drives the heater unit.
you also need to power a pink / YELLOW (smallest one) to prevent ABS/Airbag lights from coming on. there are also two ignitions, pinl/green and pink/white.

Thanks guys, I will get that done tonight and see if it works. One last question. I decided in my infinite wisdom to take the tach wire from a connector on top of the engine. It is the same wire that goes down to the ECM, I just tapped into it on top of the engine for ease. My question is this. The wire coming out of this connector is the Blue/black wire. It comes out of the connector for about 6", then there looks like a splice. about a 2" section covered in shrink wrap. I tapped into the engine side, before the splice. Is this wrong? I have a good tach signal, could tyhis be the engine light problem, I would think I would see a code if this is the problem.
