hello everyone.... i was wondering if someone can help me with a problem with my alarm. seems that all of a sudden when i lock or unlock the car it does arm but now i get three chirps on my remote instead of the regular one and two chirps. i lost my receipt from the installer and they wont take a look at it without a hefty fee.if its somethin terribly complicated i will take it in however i was hoping it was somethin i can do myself. any help is appreciated. thanks dan

Yeah that's the sound it makes when it is not recieving the 2-way communication signal back to the remote after you send a remote command to the vehicle.

why thank you very much iskidoo i was beginning to think no one liked me very much here :) nah just kiddin, anyway i think you described it perfectly because now that i think about it nothing on my remote seems to show any activity. even the little lock icon doesnt work it seems to stay unlocked. so the million dollar question for me is do you think i should just take it back to the shop? or is it somethin maybe even someone as uninformed as me can attempt? thanks dan

It's usually the responder antenna that failed and needs to be swapped out by the dealer. If your going back to the same authorized DEI dealer that installed it originally then they should have your info on file. DEI is very strict about doing warranty repair service on their products. If you registered your product when you recieved it you should be able to contact DEI and tell them you've misplaced your reciept. If someone other than a DEI dealer installed it then you may have trouble getting sevice or even replacement parts for that matter. Double check the connection going into the window mounted antenna to make sure it's not pulled out a little bit.

thanks alot iskidoo. i appreciate the info. i tried to check the wiring as best as posible to no avail but at least i know how to describe the problem since you seem to have diagnosed exactly what happens after triggering my wifes alarm. thanks for your help. i shall take it to the installer and let them have a looksy. peace dan

No problem, I have the same system in my car. My aunt has it too and she had that problem with hers not responding back to the remote. Post back and let me know if it was the same part (antenna). That seems to be a common part to fail on those units.

Here is anothor problem that i noticed about these remotes is that the remote case clips can get loose from being in your pocket. The fix is remove the battery, remove that one phillips screw, take it apart n snap the inside clips back. That has helped me many times before.

Those remotes are sooo fragile... I wonder if that is the reason they are going to the remotes without the car on them.
