I am installing autostart alarm onto my 97 rodeo, I believe all wires are right because it autostarts, but sometimes when I push button it cranks too long and scratches as if I was turning the key after it was started.

Relearn your tach signal or go to an injector wire instead.

yep, it doesn't know its started already, sometimes getting a tach signal from the coil doesn't work and you have to tap into a fuel injection wire like on my Taurus

which model starter do you have?  On most what you do to re learn the tach is you flash the hood pin switch, hop in the car put your foot on the break and hold it, press lock and unlock at the same time, , the parking lights should flash 4 times......release the brake, start the car, let it idle till it gets to its lowest idle point when its warm, then press and hold the break pedal until the parking lights flash 5 times.

If it did not pick up a tach signal, the parking lights will stay on while you start it with the key in the process mentioned above *
