Clarion MS850

Hello. I am new to your forum, so let me introduce myself first. My name is James Roberts, and I am the owner of a small install shop called Roberts Mobile Concepts based out of Southwest Michigan.

My problem/question is this: I recently purchased a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus LX. I installed my Clarion Ungo MS850 security alarm into it, and I ran into a problem. When I hooked up my siren/horn output to my vehicles horn (via relay), it gave a continuous honk of the horn when the alarm triggered. The horn operated normally during arm and disarm (one honk for arm, two honks for disarm). Did I miss a step somewhere, or is the brain unit not able to "pulse" the horn honk? I double checked my jumper settings in the brain unit and made sure they were set for horn honk function. Can someone please help me on this.

Also, the wiring diagram for the 2000 Chrysler Cirrus calls for the horn wire to be black and red. For the information of other installers, this wire is located on the white nylon wire harness/connector located on the very bottom of the steering wheel column. If the black and red wire is used from the blue wire harness/connector, also located on the steering wheel column..."poof", there goes your parking light circuit!!!

I'm not familiar witht he Ungo brand alarm systems, but unless the CPU can pulse the output signal going to the siren/horn honk circuit, your SOL as far as pulsing the horn. If there is a jumper in the CPU for HORN HONK, this may be a onboard relay switch that enables an onboard relay so no extra relay is required ( I'm not sure...just guessing here ). YOu would be the expert seeing that you have the wiring diagram and installation manual for this system.

The systems that we sell have a SIREN/HORN HONK output wire that you can program to have 5 different tones from a solid tone to a pulsed--solid--pulsed tone with a 1 second delay between the pulses. Does your siren output a continuous tone as well ?
