I am going to attempt to install my very first ever car alarm on my 98 Ford F-150, and I have a few questions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
(1) I have a "Remote Start Primary Harness, 7-pin connector" with the following notation:
1 -- pink/white -- 200mA (-) Programmable IGN2/ACC2 Relay turn on
2 -- yellow -- (+) IGNITION input to alarm
3 -- Pink -- (-) 200mA IGNITION Relay turn-on
4 -- Orange -- (-) 200mA ACCESSORY relay turn-on
5 -- Purple -- (-) 200mA STARTER relay turn-on
6 -- ORANGE / black -- (-) antigrind/ground when armed output
7 -- Blue -- (-) 200mA STATUS output
(2) I also have a "heavy gauge inline connector relay key switch interface" harness with the following notation:
1 -- Purple -- (+) output to STARTER circuit (starter side)
2 -- Green -- Onboard STARTER KILL (key side)
3 -- Red -- (+) high current 12V input
4 -- Orange -- (+) output to ACCESSORY circuit
5 -- Pink -- (+) output to PRIMARY IGNITION circuit
6 -- Red -- (+) high current 12V input
7 -- Pink/white -- (+) output to SECOND IGNITION circuit
8 -- RED / white -- (+) high current 12V input
My question is this:
I've read on here that since my vehicle has 3 ignition wires and 2 accessory wires that I would need to add extra relays from the alarm/remote start to accomodate this; however, if I'm using relays to obtain the extra capacity I need for the ignition and accessory circuits, which of those 2 harnesses do I put those relays off of? The first one I listed says "relay turn on" for most of its outputs, but the second one is the "relay key switch interface", so which do I use? And what do I use the other harness for, and please be as detailed as possible?
Also, since you add the relays for the extra vehicle ignition wires off the remote start IGN2 wire, do you need a relay for the primary ignition? or does the vehicle already have one that is being activated for that circuit?
I'm also assuming that I just splice into the vehicle wiring, rather than just completely disconnecting the vehicle wiring from it's sources, correct? except for the door lock relays since I have to use the 5 wire method, so I have to insert the relays between the switch and the motor, right?
I know those questions probably make me sound like a complete moron, but I've just never done any of this before and I can't afford to pay someone else to install it for me right now. Any help/advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Adam, I just did one of these on a diesel. All you need to do is splice into the PINK(ign) and ORANGE(acc) wires comming from the ribbon harness. It is labelled "5-pin remote start ribbon harness" in the manual. Then power up the relays as you would normally.
As for the locks, you only need to add relays if you don't have factory keyless entry.
actually those wires are designed so you dont have to splice in to the wires going to the new relay pack. either ones are fine but i found it is easier to use the little clip with the outputs on it because to add relays to that is easier because all your wires are there including the wires you have to tap into on your car.i mean since you are running all your wires from that relay pack it will be a neater job just taping the additional relays wires to it that have to go the the column wires any way,

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.
use the pink and orange wires from your 7 pin harness to your respective relays. These are ground outputs activations.
